No JUTC fare increases come Sunday, plans put on hold

The Government has reportedly decided to put on hold the Jamaica Urban Transport Company (JUTC) fare increases planned for Sunday.



President of the Jamaica Civil Service Association, Oniel Grant, informed The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre of the developments a short while ago.



Grant and other interests groups met with government officials over the planned increase which has caused public anger.



Senior citizens were to be hit hardest by the increases.



They were expected to pay 200 per cent or $60 up from $20.



Adults would pay $120 up from $100 while children would pay $30, up from $20.
