I am competent, says health minister

KINGSTON, Jamaica:
The embattled health minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, is defending his stewardship amid mounting criticism of his performance, particularly his handling of the chikungunya crisis.
According to Ferguson his track record demonstrates progress.
"My record for the past two-and-a-half years cannot be challenged, whether for incompetence or what we have set out to do", said Ferguson on Power 106FM's morning time current affairs programme, Independent Talk.
However, he acknowledged that it would be the prerogative of the Prime Minister to decide whether to keep him as Minister of Health.
Ferguson also maintains that the government has handled the chik-V outbreak consistent with international patterns.
