Lookout for counterfeit US$50 notes, Police warn

The police in St Mary are urging people to be on the lookout for counterfeit US$50 notes being circulated by criminals.

According to the Police the notes bearing the serial number – MB25837080A are in circulation in Highgate, Port Maria, Oracabessa and Gayle in St Mary.

They say the notes are being used mainly in supermarkets, petrol stations and at places of entertainment such as bars and night clubs.

Four persons have been arrested in connection with the use of these counterfeit notes so far.

The police is urging members of the public to be cautious of persons who attempt to use US$50 notes to carry out transactions and to make proper checks to ensure that notes being collected are legitimate.

The Police are appealing to persons with information that can lead to the apprehension of other persons to contact the St Mary Police at 994-2452, 994-9873, 119 or the nearest Police Station.
