A female district constable has been arrested and charged for allegedly providing an inmate at the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Center with a cellular phone.

District Constable Desrine Graham, who is assigned to the August Town Police Station, was charged yesterday for breaching the Corrections Act.

It is alleged that in April 2014 Woman District Constable Graham provided a cell phone to an inmate whom she had escorted back to the Fort Augusta Adult Correctional Center.

A correctional officer reportedly observed what took place and a search was conducted, during which the cellular phone was recovered from the inmate’s bag.

A report was made to the then Anti-Corruption Branch and an investigation launched.

A file was prepared and sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions who ruled that District Constable Graham be charged for breaching the Corrections Act.

District Constable Graham was granted bail with no conditions, when she appeared before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate’s Court today.
