Police to host personal safety and security meeting with taxi operators
The Police say they will be meeting with taxi operators to enhance their safety and security amid concerns about attacks against taxi operators.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says the move is a part of its Robbery Prevention Strategy.
The JCF says this initiative will see Divisional Commanders meeting with public passenger operators in their various divisions to assist with making them more difficult targets for criminal attacks.
The Police also say they intend to bring about awareness and encourage taxi operators to download the Stay Alert App.
This application will give them quick access to Police control in the event of any incidence of crime and violence.
The police say it also presents an avenue in which they can share information with the Police in various ways.
In the latest attack on transport operators, two men allegedly slashed the throat of a taxi man in Clarendon on Thursday night.
