Jamaica's basketball star Kimani Ffriend is expected to stand trial today for a second time in Serbia on a vehicular manslaughter charge.

Ffriend was incarcerated in the European country after the car he was driving struck and killed 30-year-old account executive Nevena Dragutinovic on November 3, 2012.

He was ordered to stand trial after a high court judge accepted weaknesses were in the first trial.

The Jamaican was in custody for two years before being found guilty in September 2014 and sentenced to three years.

The story made headlines across Serbia because of the Jamaican star's status in that country and the fact that Novena was the girlfriend of a popular singer.
