Gordon Webley to face questions from PNP youth today

New People’s National Party (PNP) member Joan Gordon Webley is expected to face questions, about her decision to join the party, from young members today.

The people’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) says Gordon Webley, who is a former member of the Jamaica Labour Party, will be attending today’s Private Congress of the organisation.

The meeting is set to begin at 10 o’clock this morning at Ocho Rios High in St Ann.

The PNPYO says Gordon Webley’s decision to attend follows a meeting with PNPYO president Alric Campbell.

Her attendance also comes against the background of an appeal of the decision to grant her membership, which has been lodged with the PNP secretariat by the youth organisation.

Some PNP members have been furious about the inclusion of the controversial political figure, who has had numerous run-ins with PNP supporters over the past 35 years.

However, the PNP secretariat has said any law-abiding citizen is free to join the party.
