Opposition Senator Kamina Johnson Smith has called for the police to quickly apprehend and bring to justice men who were video-taped sexually assaulting a girl.

The video, which shows the attack took place in Zion, Falmouth, has been circulating on social media.

Johnson Smith says she is outraged at the assault and says there may be many other similar incidents which go unreported.

The senator is criticising Youth Minister Lisa Hanna for her lack of response to the incident and for failing to articulate plans to address young people and violence.

She adds that since December 2014, the Government has not re-convened the parliamentary committee reviewing four laws related to violence against women and children.

Johnson Smith says the country has also not been told about what action will be taken on the announced framework to speed up the court process for hearing child violence cases.
