200 more cops to be deployed to St James
An additional 200 police personnel are to be deployed to St James to help contain murders across the parish.
The cops are expected to begin duties tomorrow.
In recent weeks, there have been several murders in St James.
During a tour last week, National Security Minister, Peter Bunting, promised that the St James Police Division would be provided with additional resources to improve its capacity to take on criminals.
Police Commissioner, Dr. Carl Williams, also pledged more support for the division.
Since the visits, the St. James Police High Command has started nightly curfews in some crime hot spots.
According to head of the St James Police, Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor, there has been a reduction in violence since the curfews started on Friday.
He also says the police will be relentless in seeking to apprehend the perpetrators of the violence.
