UPDATE: Activities at Falmouth pier back to normal, tourists tour local sites
The Government says cruise shipping activities have returned to normal at the Falmouth Cruise Port in Trelawny following a fire on a ship this morning.
It says passengers from the Freedom of the Seas, which caught fire as it docked, are now touring local sites.
In a statement this afternoon, Tourism Minister, Dr Wykeham McNeill, said the fire was extinguished by staff on-board the ship.
Earlier this afternoon, Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator Sandrea Falconer, said there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Operators of the vessel, Miami-based Royal Caribbean International, said in a statement that the fire broke out in the mechanical area.
It said on-board fire suppression equipment were used to put out the fire.
The Freedom of the Seas is on a seven-night cruise that departed from Port Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday.
