Come August 1 St Elizabeth promoters must submit tax compliance certificate - Parish Council
The St Elizabeth Parish Council says as of August 1, promoters must submit a property tax compliance certificate for their applications to stage events in the parish to be considered.
The council expects the new move to help improve tax collection in the parish.
Chairman of the Council, Everton Fisher, says persons applying for places of amusement licences or dance permits will be required to provide a certificate to show whether they or the owner of the venue are paying their property taxes.
He is urging promoters of dances and other entertainment events in the parish to ensure that owners of venues possess a property tax compliance certificate.
Meanwhile, Communications Manager at the St Elizabeth Parish Council, Michael McLean, says the council has been engaging in a campaign to inform residents of the changes.
He says the council has not received any negative feedback on the new rule.
St Elizabeth is among several parishes with low tax collection levels.
