Former JTA president Dorothy Raymond dies

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has expressed regret at the passing of one of its former presidents, Dr Dorothy Raymond.

Raymond, who was the president of the JTA Cooperative Credit Union died last night after a period of illness.

She served as JTA president from 1989 to 1990 and later as head of the JTA's administration and finance unit.

"We express deep sympathy to her husband Roy and the rest of the family," JTA Secretary General, Byron Farquharson said in a release.

"We pray that they will be comforted by the positive impact she had on the thousands of teachers as she served in her various capacities."
