Seafood giant Rainforest Seafoods awarded 18 students with academic scholarships totalling $1.5 million, on Monday, August 17, at their Slipe Road offices in Kingston. They also disbursed 50 book grants to employees.

The scholarships were awarded to children of Rainforest team members who had excelled in the last school year and demonstrated an average grade of B or above. Of the 18 scholarships, six were awarded to high performers in the GSAT examination, nine at the secondary level and three at the tertiary level.

Human Resources Manager Karlene Sutherland explained, "We are a family-oriented company, and this initiative is important to demonstrate in a tangible way our commitment to family."
