Flash Flood Watch issued for all low lying areas

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has issued a Flash Flood Watch for low-lying and flood prone areas of all parishes as Tropical Storm Erica passes to the North of the island.

A flash flood watch means that flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by listening to further releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.

It will remain in effect until five this evening.

The forecast is for heavy showers and thunderstorms today into Sunday morning.

The Met Service says flash flooding is likely over some low-lying and flood-prone areas.

It is forecasting unstable weather conditions to occur across all parishes especially northern and southeastern parishes during the next 24 hours.
