JLP orders West Central St Catherine seat hopefuls to cease campaigning activities

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) secretariat has ordered individuals vying to represent the party in the West Central St Catherine to cease all political activities in the constituency.

Last month the JLP secretariat discontinued the selection process to determine the caretaker for the seat.

However, on Thursday, one of the contenders for the position, Dr Christopher Tufton, said the indecisiveness and uncertainty around the selection of a JLP candidate is causing frustration for party workers and delegates.

In a release today, the JLP secretariat said the party is doing everything to ensure there is justice and transparency in the process.

It says the matter will be settled in an appropriate timeframe and the results will be communicated to the public.

Meanwhile, the party says it will not be discussing its internal affairs in public.

Tufton is vying against attorney-at-law Kent Gammon and Councillor Devon Wint to replace Dr Ken Baugh in West Central St Catherine.
