Looters removing cement from the Mandela Highway after a truck overturned this afternoon.

There is now a huge traffic pile-up along the Mandela Highway, St Catherine.

The Ferry Police says the traffic jam is being caused by an overturned truck which was transporting cement.

Huge volumes of the material have been dumped on the road.

The police say the crash occurred in the vicinity of the entrance to Plantation Heights which is located on the side of the highway leading to Kingston.

They say the situation is being compounded by looters who are now on the road shovelling up the cement.

The traffic pile up reportedly extends from Ferry to Caymanas.
