The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Cooperative Credit Union, says starting next month, it will start proving credit information on its members.

According to a newspaper advertisement, the new move will take effect on September 14.

The credit union says it is doing so based on Section 8 of the 2010 Credit Reporting Act.

Under that section, the JDF entity has the legal support to provide the credit information on its members.

The information is expected to be provided to the Creditinfo Jamaica Limited, Jamaica's first licensed credit bureau.

The JDF credit union will also be joining other financial institutions in becoming a provider and subscriber of credit history background information on the institutions of persons seeking credit access through facilities, such as loans.

Credit info will add the information to its database from which it would prepare reports on individuals or companies.
