Traffic changes for Jamaica vs Nicaragua match
The Police are advising members of the public that there will be traffic changes this evening in the vicinity of the National Stadium.
Jamaica's Reggae Boyz will take on their Central American rivals in the first leg of their 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, the authorities are advising that road closures and traffic diversions will be in effect as of 2 o’clock in the afternoon to facilitate the smooth staging of the event.
They have also advised that no weapons are allowed inside the venue.
The police say a sterile area will be created along Arthur Wint Drive between Roosevelt Avenue and Gate E, which is just above the main entrance leading to the Stadium.
Barriers will be placed across the roadway at both points.
Motorists are being urged to obey the directives of the Police to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
The changes are:
BEFORE THE EVENT
ONE WAY SYSTEM
Arthur Wint Drive will be operated as one way from Central Avenue to Roosevelt Avenue
The Upper section of Arthur Wint Drive from Mountain View Avenue will be operated as one way to access Gates E4 - E8 leading to the Stadium Car Park.
NB: Gate E6 will no longer admit vehicular traffic; same has been configured as Pedestrian entrance.
ROAD CLOSURE/DIVERSION
Road closure and Traffic Diversion will be in effect as of 2 p.m. (or as situation dictates) to facilitate the smooth staging of the event.
A sterile area will be created along Arthur Wint Drive between Roosevelt Avenue and Gate E$ just above the main entrance leading to the Stadium. Barriers will be placed across the roadway at both points.
JUTC buses and other vehicles travelling along Arthur Wint Drive to Mountain View Avenue will be diverted onto /Roosevelt Avenue and Stanton Terrace.
CHECK POINTS
MOUNTAIN VIEW AVENUE/ARTHUR WINT DRIVE
There will be a Police Check Point at this location; only vehicles conveying patrons will be allowed to turn from Mountain View Avenue onto Arthur Wint Drive. All other vehicles include JUTC buses will continue straight along Mountain View Avenue.
STANTON TERRACE/ROOSEVELT AVENUE
There will be a police check point a this location, only VIPs in vehicles wearing stickers will be allowed access along Roosevelt Avenue to get to the Stadium via Gate E2. All other vehicles will be diverted onto Stanton Terrace via Mountain View Avenue or Old Hope Road.
ENTRY POINTS
Vehicles bearing stickers) of accredited media personnel will enter through gate E10 (Nannyville Access) and park in the media area.
General public through gate E4 to E8.
NO PARKING
No parking will be allowed along the following roads
Arthur Wint Drive
Roosevelt Avenue
Stanton Terrace
Mountain View Avenue between Nannyville - Old Hope Road
Latham Avneue
North Avenue
EMERGENCY EXIT
Statue Drive leading to gate E10 at Nannyville will be operated as the emergency exit and as such will be kept clear at all times.
AFTER THE EVENT
Arthur Wint Drive - Arthur Wint Drive will be operated as one way from the Stadium to Tom Redcam Avenue.
Roosevelt Avenue will be operated as one way from the Stadium to Stanton Terrace.
Latham Avenue will be operated as one way from Roosevelt Avenue to Old Hope Road
Vehicles occupying the upper section of the car park will use the upper section of Arthur Wint Drive to exit.
JUTC buses will be positioned along both sides of the Arthur Wint Drive at designated areas to pick up commuters after the match.
