Several Residents of Collie Smith Drive are protesting the shooting of a member of the community this morning.

They say that around 6:15 a.m., 24-year-old Andrew Gayle was picking ackees when members of a police team searching for a wanted man, ordered him to stop.

The residents say the police then fired at Gayle, hitting him.

They say Gayle ran into a nearby yard where he was then shot again and killed.

Members of the Independent Commission of Investigations and the Scene of Crime Unit are on location.

Police personnel were maintaining a close watch on the area as the residents cry for justice.

The residents say that Gayle was not a member of any gang.

They say he is a self-employed barber and artist who was mistaken for someone else.
