Published:Monday | September 7, 2015 | 12:00 AM

A memorial service for Dr Andrew Francis Masson took place on August 29 at the St George's Anglican Church in Edmonton, Canada.

He passed away peacefully on August 19 at the age of 88. He is fondly remembered by his wife, Sheila, of 59 years; children; siblings; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Andrew was born in Jamaica in 1927 but grew up in Belize. He moved to London, England, for medical school at the age of 17.

Andrew married Sheila in 1955 and they returned to Jamaica to work and raise their family. He practised neurosurgery at The University Hospital of the West Indies and particularly enjoyed teaching. He delighted in the successes of his students.

The family migrated to Edmonton, Canada, in 1975. He retired in 1992 and continued to pursue his passion for cooking, reading, listening to music, and gardening, especially growing orchids.
