JLP calls press conference to discuss hand, foot and mouth disease outbreak
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has called an emergency press conference for this afternoon to address the hand, foot and mouth disease which is spreading across primary and infant schools in the south of the island.
According to the South East Regional Health Authority, up to yesterday afternoon the disease had been detected at 53 schools in St Catherine, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew.
The JLP briefing is scheduled for 1.30 p.m. at the party's Belmont Road Headquarters.
Opposition Spokesperson on Education, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith and Opposition Spokesperson on Health, Senator Marlene Malahoo Forte are expected to address the briefing.
