A release from the Office of the Prime Minister stated that the Simpson Miller has contracting laryngitis.
It says a hectic schedule including weeks of public speaking activities has led to an irritation of her vocal cords.
As a result, Simpson Miller has been advised by her doctor to rest her voice.
