The police seized three guns over the past 24 hours in Hanover, the western parish now the site of a strong police presence.

No one has been arrested.

The Corporate Communications Unit of the police force says two guns were seized at a premises in Cascade, where a team of officers was carrying out special operations.

During the search of the premises, the police reportedly found a Parabellum pistol and one Browning nine millimeter pistol along with 58 rounds of ammunition.

Another team of officers seized a homemade firearm in Cold Spring, Sandy Bay, also in Hanover.

The police say the team was conducting special operations in the area when they came across a group of men that reportedly aroused their suspicion.

It is reported that when the police team approached, the men ran leaving behind a knapsack bag which contained the homemade handgun.

A strong police team has been in Hanover since the murder two weeks ago of six members of one family and the injuring of four others.
