Police service vehicle linked to deadly Negril collision, motorcyclist being sought

The Westmoreland police say they are looking for a motorcyclist linked to an alleged collision involving a police service vehicle that left a 26-year-old man dead.
A statement from the police yesterday said they have received reports that the motorcyclist was involved in the incident that claimed the life of Noval McInnis of Red Ground, Westmoreland.
Meanwhile, the police have sought to assure the family of the dead man that they will investigate the case without any prejudice.
Yesterday, Negril residents blocked roads and burnt debris demanding justice.
The police say the scene of the crash has been examined by the Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit.
They say the findings will be submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to make a determination.
According to the police, early Wednesday morning, McInnis was driving a Suzuki Accent scooter motorcycle, which collided with a police Toyota Hilux pickup truck.
The service vehicle, which was responding to a call, subsequently crashed into an embankment and damaged some of its tyres.
McInnis was taken to hospital, where he later died.
The police personnel travelling in the truck were not injured.
