Art Lovers Weekend Treat

The 24th annual Mandeville Art Fair, the largest art exhibition in Jamaica, will be mounted from November 12-14 at the St John Bosco Auditorium, Hatfield, Manchester.

The greatly anticipated gala cocktail opening is set for tomorrow at 6 p.m. and offers an opportunity for art lovers and serious collectors to view and purchase wide-ranging works from some of the island's finest artists as well as the work of promising new artists. The collection comprises paintings, ceramics, photography and sculpture.

On opening day, tickets are $1,700.00. On Friday, Novem-ber 13, when the show opens from 9 a.m-6 p.m. and admission is free students are specially invited. On Saturday, November 14, the fair runs from 10 a-m - 4 p.m. and includes a craft fair and fun day with face painting, bounce about, craft items, plants and food for sale.

Sponsors for this year are: Sagicor Investments, Impact Industrial, Pioneer Chocolate, Fence Masters and Pickapeppa. All proceeds from the fair go towards the educational institutions, health clinics and children's homes run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mandeville.

On opening night, the Alpha Boys' Home bus will be available for patrons residing in Kingston. Departure from Alpha is at 4.30 p. m. and the return trip leaves Bosco at 8.30 p.m. Tickets for the trip are $2,000 each. Make reservations by contacting Marcia Dallas at 928-1345.
