Concerns that Jamaica not prepared for Winter Tourist Season
With exactly a month before the start of the Winter Tourist Season, there is concern that the island may not be properly prepared for the high season.
Opposition Spokesperson on Tourism Shahine Robinson is concerned that she has not observed any beautification exercises or enhancement activities in resort towns.
According to her, there has been lacklustre growth in the industry in recent years and, therefore, a lot of weight is being placed on the opportunities that the upcoming high season is expected to generate.
She says the industry globally is becoming increasingly competitive and so all efforts must be made to improve the Jamaican product.
Robinson says it is therefore critical for the Government to provide adequate finances to undertake meaningful improvements in major resort towns.
