Kevoy Powell

Kevoy Powell enjoyed singing, cooking and playing sports.

He was born on February 2, 1998 in St Catherine.

His mother, Mercelyn Durton-Williams, and his father, Ranford Powell, taught their son valuable life lessons as he grew up.

Kevoy is remembered as a jovial individual who was always respectful.

He was caring and encouraging.

"He would always have something to say whether he's giving advice or just to make someone smile," his mother said.

Kevoy had three siblings - Shannile, Romain and Timoy.

He enjoyed playing cricket and football, and when he wasn't playing either sport, he was in the kitchen. Kevoy enjoyed cooking and baking. It was his ambition to become an executive chef but, as a result of sickness, he wasn't able to achieve his dream.

He attended Ascot Primary School, then passed the Grade Six Achievement Test and went to St Catherine High School, where he sat eight Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate subjects, passing all of them.

Kevoy fell ill in July and died on October 31.

His mother remembers him as a child who loved to study and did whatever it took to make her proud.

Seventeen-year-old Kevoy leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish his memories as they continue to hold him dear to their hearts.
