There have been more delays in the trial of the couple charged with the murder of University of the West Indies (UWI) lecturer, Dr Peter Vogel.

The trial was scheduled to start in the Home Circuit Court yesterday, but had to be pushed back because of an ongoing murder case.

The trial has been rescheduled to April 11, 2016.

Kevin Downer and Yanika Scott, who have been in custody since 2007, were further remanded.

The UWI lecturer was found dead at his residence at College Commons in Mona, St Andrew on July 19, 2007.

His mouth was gagged and his feet bound.

The post-mortem revealed that Dr Vogel died from asphyxia due to strangulation.

Following investigations by the police, Downer and Scott, who was employed as Dr Vogel's helper, were arrested and charged.
