The Westmoreland police are appealing to 20-year-old Ashway Campbell, otherwise called ‘Copy’ of Fletchers Hill in Westmoreland, to turn himself in.

The police say Campbell is a suspect in the shooting death of 29-year-old Darfield Cummings, otherwise called ‘Tugs’ of McDonald Road, Lennox Bigwoods in the parish, during a dispute yesterday.

The police report that about 12:20 yesterday afternoon, Cummings was among a group of people when a dispute developed between him and another man.

It is alleged that the other man pulled a handgun and shot him in the abdomen, then fled the community.

Cummings subsequently ran but collapsed in bushes. The police were summoned and Cummings was found lying on his back in a pool of blood.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
