Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Minister, Phillip Paulwell (centre), shakes hands with Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland Dwayne Vaz, after the commissioning of electricity service to benefit 83 residents of New Town/ Seaton Crescent in Savanna-la-Mar on December 2.

Chairman of National Energy Solutions Limited (NESoL), Dr Garnett Roper, says every effort will be made to provide Westmoreland with full electricity coverage in short order.

He was addressing a lighting ceremony in New Town/Seaton Crescent, Savanna-la-Mar last Wednesday where electricity service was commissioned for 83 residents.

Roper pointed out that Westmoreland currently has 93 per cent electricity coverage while the national coverage stands at 97 per cent.

“So, we have a good four per cent to go to catch up with the national average. We would like to assist as much as possible to remove the darkness and bring the light and bring a better quality of voltage,” he said.

Roper said that NESoL is committed to ensuring that rural communities have access to electricity in order to improve the quality of life of citizens and facilitate the development of businesses.

Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland where New Town/Seaton Crescent is located, Dwayne Vaz, expressed appreciation to NESoL for bringing electricity in the areas.
