St Ann's Bay Hospital gets equipment

Angel Foundation UK on Wednesday donated medical equipment valued at £30,000 to the St Ann's Bay Regional Hospital.

The list of equipment includes portable air condition units, hydraulic beds, wheelchairs, pressure relief mattresses, a Ford battery, and medical journals.

Angel Foundation UK founder Angelia Christian, speaking at the handing over, said, "The Jamaican diaspora has a passion and a dream to see a change to the health care system so patients and staff can work in a healthy and safe environment and better access to health care."

Christian thanked supporters of the effort, offering words of appreciation to Power 106 and Derval Malcolm, The Gleaner, Jewel Resorts, Grace Foods UK, Junior's Caribbean Cuisine, Victoria Mutual and RE/MAX-Elite.

Acting Senior Medical Officer of Health Dr Ian Titus was grateful for the donation.

"As always, anytime we have items donated to the hospital, we are very grateful and we will put them to good use," Titus said.

Previously, Angel Foundation UK had made donations to Jamaica, including ambulance units and a blood collection unit.
