AMG Packaging and Paper Company Limited was influenced to list of the Jamaica Stock Exchange's Junior Market in 2011 because they wanted to grow their business and raise the capital needed to further develop and expand the company, Kathryn Chin, assistant general manager told The Gleaner.
She said the listing is an opportunity for their employees to feel more involved as shareholders of the company.
Chin revealed that since listing the company has gained more exposure and public awareness. "Being listed has propelled us as a leader in the industry, as it enhances our reputation as being a good corporate citizen," she noted.
Additionally, Chin said the company has increased its product range to include other corrugated packaging materials and purchased machinery that has allowed them to become more efficient, while expanding their facilities. She said the Junior Market listing has also enabled AMG Packaging and Paper Company Limited to enter the consumer paper market and they are now manufacturers of toilet paper and hand towel.
Chin says AMG Packaging and Paper Company Limited would definitely encourage others to join the Junior Stocks Exchange because in the close to five years since issuing their Initial Public Offering, things have been positive.
"Joining the Junior Market has allowed us to grow our business and this is a motivating factor to potential small enterprises. Listing will aid them in further developing the Jamaican economy and the exposure of being a listed company will be a great asset to your business."
