The government will on Tuesday begin an assessment of the damage to roads and other infrastructure in Portland following days of heavy rainfall.

The state minister with responsibility for works, Everald Warmington and E.G. Hunter,  the Chief Executive Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA) are to lead a tour of the affected areas.

The NWA's Communications Manager, Stephen Shaw, says the tour will allow the team to get a detailed account of the damage.

According to Shaw, an assessment will be conducted of the extent of the displacement following which a response plan will be developed
