Warrants out for major players in lottery scamming, cybercrimes
The police are reporting that they have arrest warrants for some of the major players targeted in lottery scam and cybercrimes investigations.
The probe has already resulted in the arrest of five men and the seizure of digital and forensic devices believed to have been used to fleece members of the public and local financial institutions out of millions of dollars.
They were held on Friday in a series of joint law enforcement operations carried out in Kingston, St Catherine and St James targeting suspected scammers and persons involved in cybercrimes.
A senior law enforcement official told the Gleaner/Power106 news centre that investigators are confident that they will arrest other major players shortly.
The official revealed that the investigation began after a number of complaints by members of the public about debit card fraud.
