UPDATE: Policeman held among gunmen in murder outside St Thomas school
A police constable is now in custody after he was apprehended in St Thomas this morning in a motor car with three men suspected of committing the murder in Grant's Pen.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the constable is attached to the Hunts Bay Police Station in St Andrew.
The police have also confirmed that two illegal firearms were found inside the vehicle.
According to law enforcement sources, a police team responded to an incident in the community of Grants Pen, St Thomas, in which a well-known resident was reportedly shot several times by unknown assailants travelling in a car.
It's reported that the car sped off when the police arrived.
It was later intercepted with four men aboard.
Investigators later discovered the identity of the constable.
"We can confirm information that a policeman was among four persons held by the St Thomas Police suspected to have committed a murder," one law enforcement official told The Gleaner a short while ago.
