Some St Thomas residents concerned about Seprod’s use of Johnson River

The St Thomas Municipal Corporation is to write to the Water Resources Authority to object to the use of the Johnson River in Seaforth in the parish by manufacturer Seprod Limited.

The decision follows concerns raised by Councillor for the Seaforth Division, Joan Spencer, during yesterday’s monthly meeting of the corporation.

Seprod has been operating its Serge Island Dairies in Seaforth for over ten years.

Spencer argued that it is unfair for Seprod to take water from the river when there are communities within the area that are without piped water and depend solely on the Johnson River.

She said residents are deeply concern and believe that the corporation should intervene.
