The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is to discontinue the dedicated bus lane on the Mandela Highway as of Thursday, April 20.

The company says this is to facilitate improvement work being done on the highway.

The discontinuation of the bus lane means all JUTC buses out of Spanish Town will use the regular lanes which will also mean more travel time and fewer trips during the morning commute.

"Commuters should therefore expect longer than normal delays and are encouraged to plan their morning commute with this in mind; moving out earlier to capitalise on earlier trips before the morning peak hour if at all possible," said a JUTC spokesperson in a release.

The Mandela Highway is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
