The police and the Met Service are urging drivers and other members of the public to avoid flooded roadways and ford crossings.

Residents in low-lying areas are also being urged to be on the lookout for rising water levels and be ready to move to higher ground swiftly.

A flash flood warning means that flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.

A flash flood watch means that flooding is possible and residents should begin to implement precautionary measures and keep themselves informed by listening for updates from the Met Service.
