Flash Flood Watch still in effect for some parishes

In this photo taken on Saturday, houses and business places can be seen surrounded by flood waters in Palmetto Pen, Clarendon.

The Meteorological Service says a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 5 o’clock today for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Ann, St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon and Manchester.

The Met Office says a persistent Trough continues to affect weather conditions over the western Caribbean and Jamaica.

It says a decrease in associated rainfall is expected but instability associated with the trough continues to affect the area over and around Jamaica.

The forecast is for periods of showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue to affect sections of central and eastern parishes until this evening.

The Met Office says flash flooding is therefore possible over some low-lying and flood-prone areas of these parishes.
