Grade Four Literacy and Numeracy results to be published in newspapers, online
The Education Ministry is to restart the publishing of the grade four literacy and numeracy results.
Portfolio minister, Ruel Reid told journalists this morning that the 2016 results will be published in the two national newspapers on Wednesday, May 3.
The results will also be published on the Internet.
The results were last published in 2012.
However, he said the policy has changed to improve transparency and initiate public discourse on the performance of the students at the grade four level.
Student performance is measured at grade four by the percentage who attain mastery on the numeracy and literacy tests.
In March, Senator Reid reported that approximately 60 per cent of the over 37,000 students from public and private schools achieved mastery in last year's literacy test.
However, that represented a reduction of four percentage points when compared to the previous year.
