Minister of Transport and Mining Lester ‘Mike’ Henry has approved the recommendation of the Transport Authority to remove the ban on Hiace buses terminating in the Kingston Metropolitan Transport Region.

Based on that ban, those buses were to be restricted to terminating in Spanish Town, St Catherine effective May 1, 2017.

However, a release from the Transport Authority said the removal of the ban is consistent with the thrust of the Authority to review the types of vehicles used in the public transportation sector.

It also seeks to alleviate the hardship that some operators had expressed would result from the need to upgrade to Coaster buses by March 31, 2018.

Henry says the review of the type of vehicle used is ongoing and the public can anticipate more details upon completion of the review process.
