Digicel is seeking to expand its presence in the Information Communication technology (ICT) sector with the purchase of a company operating in the French Overseas Territories.

In a press release today Digicel has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire 100 per cent share of IDOM Technologies.

Digicel Group CEO, Colm Delves, says business solutions is one of the fastest growth areas across all the company’s markets and the acquisition represents an excellent strategic fit for Digicel.

He says Digicel is looking forward to building on the IDOM platform to bring its full portfolio of products and services to Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana and La Reunion.

Digicel says IDOM Technologies provides a wide range of ICT services spanning connectivity, voice and security services to over 800 business and public sector customers.

It says these customers span a range of industries including insurance, commerce, financial services, health and automotive.

Digicel says as part of the deal, it will acquire IDOM’s 265 kilometres of fibre optic network.

However, it’s not disclosing the financial terms of the contract and says the transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
