Section of Mona Road reduced to single lane
A section of Mona Road in St Andrew has been reduced to single lane.
The National Works Agency (NWA) says the affected section between Wellington Drive and Wallen Close was closed yesterday and will remain so for two weeks in order to facilitate the installation of pipe culverts.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says this is part of a road and drainage rehabilitation programme, along Mona Road.
The works began in early April and are expected to last for six months, Shaw said.
He said under the project, drainage improvement activities, including culvert installation and manhole construction, will be undertaken.
In addition, there will be some pavement rehabilitation, the construction of sidewalks, kerbs and channels, road markings and a pedestrian crossing.
The project is being implemented as part of the Major Infrastructure Development Programme at a cost of $76.4 million dollars.
Shaw says during the construction phase, there may be traffic changes and delays.
He is advising motorists and other road users, including residents of August Town and the Mona area to be cautious and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
