Ganja valuing $5.5m seized in Hellshire

The police are reporting the seizure of more than 1,000 pounds of compressed ganja in Hellshire, Portmore in St Catherine.

The drug has a street value of $5.5 million.

The police say about 12:15 yesterday morning detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division conducted an operation at a beach and found 10 bags with compressed ganja in mangroves.

One man was arrested and a car seized.

The police say the team went to another beach where a white Toyota Axio motorcar was intercepted and searched.

According to the police, 13 bags with compressed ganja were seized weighing approximately 620 pounds.

The driver was taken into custody.

The police say charges are to be laid against the men.
