A St Andrew man was today found guilty of the murder of an August Town resident he shot five times because the man did not give him the $1,000 he had begged.

Jason Brown was found guilty by a seven-member jury in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.

He will be sentenced on June 2.

Prosecutors Claudette Thompson and Shauna-Kay James led evidence that on March 14, 2008, Denver Hibbert and his family were at their August Town home having lunch when Brown and an accomplice called him outside.

Brown asked for $1,000 and Hibbert, with whom he was acquainted, told him he did not have any money at the time.

According to prosecutors, the  accomplice then shot Hibbert after which Brown took the gun and pumped five more bullets into the man's body before escaping.
