Information Minister Ruel Reid says the Government is to undertake mergers of some of its communication agencies so as to improve efficiencies and to better communicate with the Jamaican public.

Reid said the move is part of a wider communication strategy being pursued by the Administration.

One agency to be affected by the consolidation is the state television station Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ).

The information minister did not indicate the entity which the PBCJ will be merged with.

Reid, who was speaking in the Senate yesterday, said there’s also to be a review of the operations of the Jamaica Information Service.
