30 marooned Sunnyside, Linstead residents rescued by JDF, Fire Brigade and police

Thirty people were rescued this morning from rising flood waters in Sunnyside, Linstead by a team from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) air wing assisted by the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the police.
Deputy Director General of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management Richard Thompson told The Gleaner that the residents were marooned for some time with rising waters posing a serious threat to life.

Of the 30 residents rescued 10 were children, and a man who was taken from the water was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The rains caused by a trough affecting the Central Caribbean, including Jamaica, have been pounding the country with heavy downpours since last night.
