Dwayne Marrett, popularly called ‘Paul’, a 36-year-old taxi operator was gunned down in his motor car by a gunman on foot at around 8:40 last night on Seaboard Street in Falmouth, Trelawny.

Reports are that Marrett had just drove away from the taxi stand in the town’s Water Square when he reduced the speed of the vehicle to go over a ditch across the road.

He was pounced on by his attacker who opened fire hitting him several times.

Marrett lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a kerb wall.

The explosions caused persons in the busy town square to summon the police who found Marrett’s body in the vehicle.

Investigators are yet to establish a motive for the killing.
