Lazy JPs undermining work of Trelawny Lay Magistrates Association

Acting president of the Trelawny Association of Lay Magistrates, Kenneth Grant Jr, says lazy justices of the peace (JPs) are undermining the work of the association in the parish.

Grant made the claim while addressing the 20th Annual Prayer Breakfast of the association in Falmouth.

He said some JPs were not attending Petty Sessions Court and were simply using the position to profile.

According to Grant, this is adding pressure on those who are willing to serve.

Grant said the complement of JPs in his zone is 60, but because of challenges caused by the poor performance of some of the justices, he recommended to Trelawny Custos Paul Muschett than an additional 20 should be installed.
