New ambassador of Spain appointed

The Government of Spain has appointed Josep Maria Bosch Bessa as the new ambassador to Jamaica, succeeding the late Ambassador Anibal Jimenez Abascal.
Bosch Bessa is a career diplomat who entered the diplomatic service in 1982. To the time of his appointment, he was the consul general of Spain in Andorra de la Vella but previously served in overseas assignments in Equatorial Guinea, Belgium, London, the Dominican Republic, the United Nations in Geneva, and France.
The Ambassador is accompanied on his Jamaican assignment by his wife, Maria Teresa Gonzalez y Gonzalez de Chaves.
Bosch Bessa presented his letters of credentials to the governor general of Jamaica on May 17.
